Antique Chinese sword with hand-carved Buddhist ornamentation. It came from the writer, Ernst F. Löhndorff's estate. The object was brought back from one of his adventurous trips through Chine. At the time, he was comparable to the travel writer, Karl May. Old age brought him to Laufenburg (Germany) and he developed a relationship with a girlfriend who lived in Laufenburg (Switzerland). He did not have a good relationship with money and spent his final years in poverty. My parents supported him financially during these years and maintained a close friendship with him until his death. Out of appreciation, he gave them this work of art.
