RHEWUM Rheinische Werkzeug- und Maschinenfabrik was founded in 1927 in Remscheid and was the youngest German lantern manufacturer. The patent for the "Storm-proof flashing light/flicker light" with the ST5 storm lantern is set in such a way that the light brightens in a very specific rhythm and causes bundling of the light through the special, coloured glasses in the body of the lantern. Such lanterns were previously used for road safety during road construction or to secure an accident site.
