Evert Moll (1878-1955) - Havengezicht Rotterdam
Evert Moll is best known for his scenes of the port of Rotterdam and navigation on the Nieuwe Maas in the 1920s and 1930s of the last century. Begun around 1900, as a follower of the Hague School, he soon shifted his work to the docks and bridges of Rotterdam. Also the dynamics of the port authority formed a source of inspiration for the painter.
He also painted cityscapes, landscapes and bold flower still lifes. Evert Mol was self-taught but received guidance from Willem Maris and Willem Roelofs.
Painter Evert Moll lived and worked between 1895 and 1930 in Voorburg, London, Paris, the Hague, and Rotterdam.
