A heavy (around 9 kg) and exceedingly rare electrified 20th century brass and copper anchor ship light. It was manufactured by William Harvie & Co. Ltd. from Birmingham and has the makers plate and serial number. It is also marked with the pattern number 1338, which is hard to find. This is not a lamp that was produced for decorative purposes, but one that was used in real life, hence its heavy weight of just over 9 kilograms. The lamp shows obvious signs of its us as an anchor light (dents and scratches), which adds to its history and charm. The top latch is secured by two wing nuts and still has what seems to be its original rubber ring on the inside. As can be seen on the pictures, it doesn’t close airtight anymore and leaves a small gap, but no light protrudes from it. The heavy glass lens has some scratches and signs of use, but has no parts broken off. The lamp I approximately 29cm wide at its widest part and approximately 37cm high (not including the handles at the top and at the bottom). The lamp would benefit from a clean which would bring back the material’s full warm lustre and shine, but I’ll leave that decision to the new owner.
