Produced from the Syrah grape variety, it aged for 16 months in French and American oak barrels. It has a very concentrated color, warm and intense notes of black fruits and spices. In the mouth it is full-bodied, balanced and with very present and round tannins. Herdade da Maroteira is located at the foot of Serra D’Ossa, and extends over 540 hectares, belonging to the same Anglo-Portuguese family for 5 generations, since the mid-19th century. At that time, Robert Reynolds invested in the Alentejo cork oak forest to satisfy the needs of the Port Wine industry in northern Portugal and, for around 150 years, the focus of the property's production was cork and cattle. Only in 2000, Philip Mollet, current owner and manager of the estate, revolutionized the farm's strategy and planted vineyards. Since then, the farm has produced excellent Alentejo wines based on the favorite grape variety, Syrah. The vineyard extends over 15 hectares planted in Clay-limestone soils, giving the wines a genuinely Alentejo character.
