Prompt payment of these fees is necessary to ensure delivery of your item. 【Product details】 Created in December of Showa 14 (1939) by the distinguished master sculptor Asako Shukei, exquisitely carved and colorfully painted, depicts Hariti, the revered protector of children and motherhood within Buddhism. Once a fearsome demon converted by Buddha himself, Hariti is now venerated as a symbol of parenting and the well-being of children. Enclosed within a richly ornamented altar cabinet, this piece comes from Myogyoji Temple, bearing a sign from the 38th Chief monk alongside a heartfelt calligraphy inscription on the inner doors, marking the creation date as an auspicious December day. This work bears the signature of Asako Shukei. The Asako lineage, originating in the late Muromachi period, is renowned for its continuity of the artistic tradition of Unkei, one of Japan's most famous Buddhist sculptors. With their distinguished expertise, the Asako family became celebrated for their divine palanquins and statuary, particularly during the Edo period, establishing a legacy of exceptional artisanship. Time has graced this piece with a venerable patina; signs of wear include surface marks, scratches, and lacquer peelings. The altar cabinet's locking hardware is missing. The base of the altar cabinet is missing its decorative wooden frame top. Please refer to the photos. Dimensions of Cabinet: approx.
