The tradition of Chupícuaro figurines is characterized by its fine modeling and especially by its enigmatic faces in which the eyes were stylized, present as large slits that give it a Chinese appearance. The Chupícuaro archaeological zone is located on the hills near the Lerma River, currently under the waters of the Solís Dam, in the current Mexican state of Guanajuato.
