Designed by Philippe Starck in 1996 and originally produced in die-cast aluminium, the Dédé doorstops are truly sculptural figures that give life to one of the many anthropomorphic characters typical of the French author's poetic imagery. An unconscious world transformed into an expressive and functional object. With a very realistic body posture, these Dédé brothers seem to be pondering whether to go in or out, whether to close or open the door. The Dédé doorstops are made of thermoplastic resin with an anti slip layer underneath. Besides, the Dédés can be functional as a book holder or sculpture. About Phillipe Starck: The French designer Philippe Starck (b. 1949) studied in École Nissim de Camondo in Paris and stayed in Paris after his studies. He became famous for his style and even the president Francois Mitterand asked him to design a suite to his palace. Starck boosted his career In the 80s and 90s when he started working for Kartell.
