Loristanilainen Pronssi Keihäänpääryhmä - 3 (Ei pohjahintaa)

A group of three finely cast Luristan bronze spearheads. The spearheads feature different long leaf-shaped blades with a central midrib, and a short, tang. The surface is covered with an attractive patination with some earth encrustations remaining. There are chips to the edges of the blade. Luristan bronzes come from the province of Lorestan, located in modern day Iran. Luristan weapons, such as this nice example, would have been used in everyday life but also buried together with the deceased. Excavated items from this region often include weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Ornamental objects are also frequently found, such as pins and bracelets. Archaeological evidence suggests that the Luristan bronze objects often serverd ceremonial functions given their funerary contexts. Weapons, such as this nice example, would have been used in everyday life but also buried together with the deceased. Measurements: L 14.5 cm x W 2.5cm; L 19 cm x W2.7cm; L18.8 cm x W2.1 cm. Provenance: Ex. London Collection, formed between 1990 - present.
