A superb and very rare Art Deco vase, made by Amphora in Czechoslovakia in the late 1920s/ 1930s. A very beautiful piece with an elegant form and finely shaped handle and spout. The combination of high-gloss glaze and matte decoration creates a unique effect. Completely hand-painted with an Egyptian Revival decoration, the portrait of a pharaoh on one side and a stylized winged scarab on the other surrounded by hieroglyphs. These innovative shapes and decorations were typical for Amphora, which created some of the finest pieces of ceramic of the early 20th century throughout both the Art Nouveau and the Art Deco period. Marked on the bottom. 22 cm high 16,5 X 12 cm Overall very good condition with wear consistent with age. It will be wrapped with a lot of care.
