Amphora; Turn Teplitz, Austria, c. 1900. Glazed ceramic and gilding. Signed on the base. Vase made of glazed and gilded ceramic inspired in its forms in the amphorae of classical antiquity. Despite the formal influence in this case the work stands out for a design of fluid and organic lines, typical of the Art Deco movement. Teplitz refers to the art pottery manufactured by a number of companies in the Teplitz-Turn area of Bohemia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
