Rare original collotype (1914) of a preparatory study by the Swiss symbolist artist Ferdinand Hodler (1853-1918), well-known by his philosophy of "Parallelism", as a unifying approach to art, by stripping away detail in search of harmony as a whole. "By means of abstraction, symmetry and repetition, Hodler sought ways to depict Nature’s essence and her fundamental, universal order.
