This Dogon couple is an original, handmade artefact that was handed over to me from a local "artisan" in the Djenné region of Mali. Both statues, a representation of male and female in the Dogon culture, present themselves with intriguing and meticulous details. Please understand that they have some minor signs of their age. In my opinion, they truly are a hand-crafted masterpiece; please look at all the pictures. They have always been stored inside a glass showcase. MATERIAL: African bronze. Lost-wax casting process, dark brownish patina. PROVENANCE: Private collection, originally from the Djenné region, in Mali (collected in situ).
