A high quality pair of Japanese cloisonné vases. Meiji period 1868-1912.
They have depictions on panels with flying dragons (symbol of the emperor) on one side and on the other the mythical polyphoenix (symbol of the empress). Interspersed floral motifs and flowers again on a soft green gray background.
All the decoration is done with fine silver wires on the margins. The patterns are distinguished by elegance and finesse in performance.
