On auction a vintage large format (8½ inch x 6½ inch) field camera manufactured by the Vageeswari Camera Works in India. This company made these cameras that were once known as one of the best field cameras in the world. Vageeswari cameras were designed and manufactured by Mr. K. Karunakaran, an Alappuzha-based technician. The frame of Vageeswari cameras was made of teak with brass clips and screws nickel plate. Vageeswari ruled the market for over four decades. Camera comes with a Rapid Rectilinear Dallmeyer 6½ x 4¾ f8 serial 66782, mounted on a working Thornton-Pickard Roller Blind Shutter. The camera body is mechanically fully functioning, has signs of surface wear on wood and on nickel plating; bellows are light-tight, not showing visible signs of wear.
