A Rare and Exquisite Sawankhalok Celadon Votive Fertility Figure of A Mother and Child

This is a hand-crafted, part celadon-glazed votive fertility figurine from 14th or 15th century. The figure is a mother holding her child, bare breasted, with hair in a bun on top of her head, sitting cross-legged. It is seated in the traditional posture: both legs are bent, with the right foot pointing backwards and the left foot touching right thigh. The hair is in the traditional top knot. The figure' head was removed to guarantee fertility.

Condition:
Some abrasion caused by age. The neck was broken and then reinforced. Right foot partially missing.
