ANTIQUE BALINESE COCK SPUR container - KOTAK TAJI The exact age of the exquisite royal Kotak Taji is unknown. It is of early 20th Century or older. It is adorned with Wayang characters of demonic origin (Bhutas). This container is used to store cock spurs used in a religious cock fighting ceremony (tajen). The blood of the defeated opponent appease the underworld lords. The higher your caste the more elaborately decorated. One spur was found in this kotak taji. The box measure about 20.5 cm long. At the widest width is about 6,5 and 5.5 at the narrower width. The box can accommodate 8 cock spurs. The inside panels are also adorned with wayang bhuta characters. #ttmay
