Francien Krieg - Mister Jenkins

Harold Jenkins was born on a crisp autumn morning in 1958 in the small town of Ashbourne, nestled in the rolling hills of the English countryside. Growing up, he was a quiet, introspective child with a love for books and nature. His father, a carpenter, and his mother, a schoolteacher, instilled in him a deep sense of respect for hard work and learning. At 18, Harold's life took a tragic turn when his father died in a car accident. The loss was devastating, shaking the foundations of his world. He took up an apprenticeship in carpentry to honor his father's memory, but the work never quite filled the void left by his passing. In his mid-20s, Harold met and married Lily, a spirited artist who brought color back into his life. They had two children, Emma and Thomas. Life seemed to be on an upswing until their daughter Emma was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of six. After a grueling three-year battle, Emma passed away, leaving Harold and Lily heartbroken. Despite the sorrow, Harold found solace in woodworking, creating intricate pieces that echoed his emotions. His craft became his sanctuary. Lily, too, immersed herself in painting, her art reflecting their shared grief and resilience. In his early 50s, another blow came when Lily was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s. Harold devoted himself to her care, watching the woman he loved fade away slowly. She passed away when he was 58, and once again, Harold was left to navigate life without the person who had been his anchor. Now at 65, Harold lives a quiet life in Ashbourne. He spends his days in his workshop, surrounded by memories carved into wood. Though marked by loss, Harold's life is a testament to enduring love and the resilience of the human spirit. He finds peace in his creations, each piece a tribute to those he has loved and lost.
