Bogaert uses symbols and the portrayal of an unrealistic world to create a romantic and intriguing atmosphere. He prefers to move in a world with hints of a clear and palpable melancholy and a nostalgia for days and circumstances gone by. The transience of life and the inability to escape fatality are at the centre of a rich, ever-changing and sophisticated content. Bogaert had a very personal vision of the wonderful world of dreams and the fantastic, on which he elaborated on unique panels that suggest a whole philosophy of life that expresses itself in a mysterious tension or the haunting feeling of imminent danger.
