Gaston Bogaert - L' air

- Original colour lithography by Gaston Bogaert (Le Mans, 1918-2008) - Signed and titled in pencil - Annotation: E.A. (épreuve d'artiste) in pencil This work will be professionally packed and sent by insured post with track and trace. Gaston Bogaert was a Belgian surrealist painter. Bogaert uses symbols and the portrayal of an unrealistic world to create a romantic and intriguing atmosphere. He prefers to move in a world with hints of a clear and palpable melancholy and a nostalgia for days and circumstances gone by. The transience of life and the inability to escape fatality are at the centre of a rich, ever-changing and sophisticated content. Bogaert had a very personal vision of the wonderful world of dreams and the fantastic, on which he elaborated on unique panels that suggest a whole philosophy of life that expresses itself in a mysterious tension or the haunting feeling of imminent danger. The spectator is hypnotised by the figured reality and the contemporary manner of painting of this born artist, who continues being the poet and painter of his artistic aura. The absence of ordinary man exudes a liberating desire for what is hidden behind the theme, which always seems to remain one of the artist’s secrets. Museums: Cagnes-sur-mer, Verviers, Charleroi, Sint-Martens-Latem, Antwerp, Brasilia, Rockefeller Art Center of New York, the Victoria Art Gallery of Canada, the Dimona in Tel-Aviv and in collections of the Belgian State. Exhibitions: Brussels, Lille, Knokke-Zoute, Laethem-Saint-Martin, Mons, Antwerp, Basel, Paris, Cologne, Hauterive, Cannes, the Hague, Athens, Luxembourg, Turin, Ostend, Mechelen, Lokeren, Liège, Strasbourg, Clermont-Ferrand and Annecy.
