Bentley - Mark VI - 1949

Collector's Condition! The Bentley is in a good condition both technically and visually. The car was restored 25 years ago. Bodywork/Paintwork: Originally ordered in Midnight Blue with a Maroon leather interior, this car has been repainted in its current colors of Astral Blue and silver as part of the restoration. The repainted surface is described as being in acceptable condition, displaying slight blisters and indications of aging across the body. These include minor stone chips around the front and wheel arches, bubbling paint at the rear, and swirl marks visible under direct light. Additionally, there are instances of pitting and scuffing on certain chrome details. It rides on a set of steel wheels, shod with whitewall tyres, and with body-coloured hub caps. There are no signs of rust on the bodywork of the car. Technical: Propelled by a 4.3-liter inline-six engine, this vehicle propels its rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. In June 1958, a replacement engine was installed due to camshaft failure in the original unit. During the most recent service, the following tasks were completed: installation of new tires, engine oil and transmission oil change, repair of the oil pan and replacement of seals, replacement of the fuel filter, installation of new spark plugs, and replenishment of the coolant. The engine runs smoothly and there is no knowledge of any mechanical or electrical issues. Interior: The interior has been refurbished with grey leather, adorned with wooden accents and complemented by blue carpets. Internally, the refurbished cabin is in excellent condition, with restored wooden accents. However, there are minor creases on the seats, a natural patina on the dashboard trim, markings evident on the headlining and rear armrest, indications of usage on the entry sills, and a slight indentation on the driver's door panel. The car’s features list encompasses front quarterlight windows that open, a sunroof, rear tray tables, and a dashboard drawer housing the toolkit. Documents: The car comes with Swedish registration papers. Additional documents include original owner’s manual, a duplicate of the original build card, assorted invoices, technical data sheet from TÜV (German Technical Inspection Association), as well as a handwritten log documenting the 1958 engine replacement and additional notes concerning the car’s usage and upkeep over the years. Other information: Announced in May 1946, the Mark 6 holds significant importance in Bentley's prestigious lineage as their inaugural luxury car after the war. Undergoing a comprehensive renovation from 1998 to 2001, this particular model has been meticulously maintained for 25 years. With commendable running condition reported, it presents an enticing prospect for any classic car aficionado seeking a charming addition to their collection. The odometer appears to be out of alignment, and the true mileage is not known. When the engine was replaced in 1958 the reading was 92,359 miles.
