Biography of the artist: Jean-Marie Planque, born in Tournai, Belgium, in 1932, pursued Fine Art studies at various academies. After completing his courses, he chose to dedicate his free time to art rather than pursuing a commercial career. Influenced by Belgian Surrealist Marcel Moreau, whose text "The Planque Effect" elucidates his friend's work, Planque's art bears the mark of literary influences such as Louis-Ferdinand Céline, Louis Aragon, and even Léo Ferré. Despite facing illness and career setbacks, he continued his artistic journey until his passing in 1992. Since then, efforts have been made to showcase his work through exhibitions, including those in Tournai (1995) and Brussels (1994).
