Original Celtic socketed axe made of iron; the rectangular spout on one side open (typical form of the early Iron Age); very heavy (1530 grams!) and massive specimen, which probably served as a sacrificial offering; indication should be, no signs of wear (nicks etc.) on the hatchet can be found, and it is also in excellent condition. The axe has been found in lower Austria and probably originates from a lair; The axe is stable, cleaned and has been professionally preserved with Microwax. I purchased the axe from a private collector in 2015. The piece comes from the art trade and is originally from an old Austrian collection (from the 60s). Important information.
