Rico Sab's work can only be understood by observing it through the prism of the Art History of the 20th century. In his paintings, we find themes specific to Pop Art or Free Figuration. From the Pop movement he retains characters from the cinema, from Comics. All these visual codes have been circulating in popular culture since the 1950s. Rico Sab adopted a style also influenced by the painting of the second half of the 20th century and appropriated the technique of drawing comics or advertising. Rico Sab talks about today's society, the influences and images that cross it. The artist is the heir to pop culture, which combines moral values with naïve representations. The artist then plays on shifts, has fun with words, then proposes a new interpretation of the visual codes conveyed by the globalized culture of our society.
