This woodblock was printed in the Taishō period (1912-1926).
The set where this copy comes from was bought in 1926 by the German ambassador in Japan Wilhelm Solf. He was a collector of Japanese prints and loved to give woodblock prints as embassy gifts. He then added a hand signed commemoration sheet.
This print will be sold together with photocopies of the commemoration sheet and of a Japanese woodcut portrait of Wilhelm Solf published by Watanabe in honor of his importance to Japanese woodcut prints.
