A stunning antique Noh presentation doll, made in Japan in the Meiji period ca. 1868-1912. Uizan-ningyō were traditional gift dolls presented on the occasion of a young Noh performer's first public performance. This piece depicts a young kneeling performer, with well-formed head of wood covered in gofun, painted details, silk fiber hair, wearing embroydered green and orange silk brocade dress, over a beni safflower orange silk crepe inner kimono. A stunning piece with exceptional details and presence.

Overall good condition with wear to the hair and silk garment consistent with age, wear to the lacquer of the face.
