After starring in some martial arts films, he became known to the public in the 1980s for his roles in numerous action films such as "Missing in Action," "Delta Force," "Lone Wolf McQuade," and "Code of Silence." In 1988, he published his autobiography "The Secret of Inner Strength," which quickly became a bestseller. In 1990, he founded a new hybrid martial art, Chun Kuk Do, derived from Tangsudo, itself a precursor to Taekwondo. From 1993 to 2001, he starred in the television series "Walker, Texas Ranger," in the role of the protagonist Cordell Walker, which earned him worldwide fame and popularity.
