Borondo (1989) - Signed Memento Mori Book - 2010

Borondo – Memento Mori book (First edition) signed by the artist, Borondo in green marker pen. Borondo signed only the first 50 books. 284 page hard cover book with bookbinding sewn with thread. First edition limited to just 1000 worldwide. Borondo signed only the first 50 books. The Memento Mori book comes from the need of Borondo to fix in a book what has been, in order to continue with what it will be: in this book the artist lets us discover himself in complete freedom and honesty, opening the doors of his archive and showing an unknown part of his work, which represents indeed the heart of all his artistic production: the research. Sketches, drafts, photographic references, all produced by the artist himself and collected during those last years. Photos taken all along his travels and on the roads he walked on, or by who walked by his side. All the volume tells us about Borondo's creative process and artistic work, since the beginnings until 2014. Born in 1989, Gonzalo Borondo grew up in Segovia, Spain, and soon moved to Madrid and then Rome, where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts. Borondo’s artistic training began with figurative painting, thanks to his meeting with painter Jose Garcìa Herranz. Starting from these assumptions and a great technique, Borondo progressively moved towards Street Art and large-scale mural works. In the first phase, the Spanish artist experimented with different techniques (from oil painting to charcoal) and media (such as glass, hay, ceramics, and wood). Borondo has made interventions all over the world and has participated in festivals such as Urban Nation (Berlin, 2016), Mural Social Club (Kiev, 2016 ), Muro-Festival de Arte Urbana LX_2016 (Lisbon, 2016) and Outdoor festival (Rome, 2012). The street artist also won the “Golden Street Art” 2020 award for his beautiful Trompe l’oeil work created in Boloigne-sur-mer.
