In 1982, in Casalotto di Mombaruzzo, in the heart of Monferrato, Antonio Sperone, together with his father Giacomo, decided to continue the wine business, especially the sale of grapes and wine to third parties, which had lasted in the family for four generations. After the renovation of an ancient 17th century villa, transformed into a cellar, the first plots were planted. Today, the company processes Cortese, Moscato, Barbera, Dolcetto, Cabernet Sauvignon, Arneis, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Nero, Brachetto, and of course Nebbiolo, and his brother also lends a hand to a business that has grown over the years. Paolo and Antonio's children, Francesca and Andrea. The production ranges between the various Piedmontese denominations, Gavi, Roero Arneis, Moscato d'Asti, Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera d'Asti, Dolcetto d'Alba, Brachetto d'Aqui and Asti Spumante, with a complex product portfolio that also includes wines with Geographical Indication and wines from other Italian regions, to also characterize this reality as a commercial one. They produce three Barbera: among these, the Barbera Superiore Le Croci which comes out bright and crunchy from the 2018 vintage: blood orange, mint, raspberry and cherry, suggest a juicy sip that promptly presents itself. Spicy enough, savory without veiling, it recalls typical vegetal notes and a light tannin that cleanse the palate and leave it sweet with fruit and warm in spirit.
