From this shank emerges a square-sectioned tang, which culminates in a tapering end. Luristan, also known as Lorestan, is a region located in western Iran, encompassing parts of the modern provinces of Lorestan, Ilam, and Kermanshah. This region has a rich archaeological heritage dating back to ancient times, particularly during the Iron Age, approximately from the 12th to the 7th centuries BC. One of the most significant achievements of Luristan was its metallurgical industry, which flourished during the Iron Age.
