A beautiful ancient Chinese terracotta votive tablet known as tsa-tsa, made during the Liao dynasty circa 916-1125 CE. The sculpture depicts three very detailed Buddhas sitting on thrones with lotus flowers behind their back. Each character has been carved in a different and unique pose. Everything is enclosed in a great-looking triangular form. Artifact has undergone a professional cleaning process to highlight beautiful details of each character at the same time, without removing all of the originally preserved earth sediments from its surface.
Tsa-tsa tablets are a unique religious votive artifacts used to worship and enhance the importance and spiritual power of the temple. The tablets were buried or placed in reliquary chambers.
Very good condition - intact, well-preserved
