Disciple of Nanto Kanamori and Gekkou Ogata. His nickname is Otoji. He called himself Nanko and Kansai. Born in Yotsuya, Tokyo. He first learned painting from his grandfather, Nantang, and was adopted by Nantang. After that, from 1887 to 1903, he became a disciple of Gekkou during his time in Okemachi, and was active as Gekkou's senior disciple along with Koka Yamamura. He excelled in portrait painting and landscape painting, and served as secretary of the Nichigetsukai(日月会).
In 1907, when Bundō was established, he participated as a councilor in the formation of the 'Seiha Doshikai', a gathering of the old school. He also presented his work at various exhibitions, including the 5th National Industrial Exhibition, and received awards. He is 55 years old.
