Beautiful antique Russian icon "Our Lady of Feodor" also called Fjödorowskaya from the 19th century. Hand-painted with egg tempera colours on a wooden panel with chalk background and on golden primer. Typical method of icon production in the 18th and 19th century in the Tsarist period of Russia. The icon was probably made in the famous icon workshop "Vetka" in ca. 1880. Relatively detailed painting. Perfectly matched colour contrasts and accomplished shading. Particularly striking are the faces and robes of the saints. The robes were additionally decorated with golden colours. The nimbus was richly decorated and very elaborately done (see photos). The icon is in good condition with typical age-related traces of wear in the form of scratches, paint flaking, bumps (see photos). The saints are labelled. The inscriptions are easy to read. Quite heavy and stable wooden panel. The wooden board is slightly arched. Two transverse wooden laths are installed on the back.
All details are clearly visible in the photos. The photos are part of the description.
An authentic and eye-catching icon. A MUST for every collector and enthusiast of Russian icon painting.
