In 1960 the original owner moved to the United States and the car travelled with him. In the United States the car joined races at SCCA events in Texas and California in the 1960s and was passed on to the original owner’s son in 1988. It is finished in white over red and is powered by a 1,588cc twin-cam inline-four paired with a four-speed manual gearbox and a 4.55:1 rear differential. Additional equipment includes 15″ wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a heater, racing lap belts, and a roll bar that was installed in the 1960s. The body is finished in white. A repaint in 1969 has had sections retouched, reportedly in places by a spray can. Paint chips and peeling are noted around the body, and light corrosion is noted on several body parts and on the underside of the rocker panels. The roll bar was reportedly installed by the original owner in 1961, and the windshield is said to have been replaced in 1980. 15″ knock-off wheels are finished in silver and are wrapped in Dunlop (fitted 2021) tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs, and the brake system was reportedly rebuilt in the early 1990s and in 2021. The interior is trimmed in red with matching door panels, a matching dash, and black carpets. Additional features include period black competition-style lap belts, a heater, and a dash-mounted rear-view mirror. The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, a 7,500-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and water temperature. An aftermarket amperage gauge is fitted under the dash, and the five-digit odometer shows 80k miles, approximately 500 of which were added by the seller since 2021. The 1,588cc inline-four features dual overhead camshafts and twin SU carburetors for a factory-rated 108 horsepower. The engine was rebuilt in 1991, in 2021 the engine head was lifted and the engine seemed to be in good condition with minimal wear since the rebuild in 1991. Pictures from the 2021 inspection can be seen in the gallery. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox and a 4.55:1 rear differential. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery. The light rust was inspected and, to the opinion of our mechanic, did not need any replacement of parts. Due to the short differential the car drives like a little rocket and reacts very quick on throttle and steering. The topspeed can be found around 100miles (160km) per hour. In my opinion a respray takes away the character of this unique car, they're only original once.... On request we can send a movie of the car in running order.
