The old name of the Qajar dessert keşkül was Keşkül-ü Fukara, and according to rumors, during the Qajar period, dervishes and sometimes kadis in disguise would mingle with the public and donate the money they collected by begging to dervish lodges and soup kitchens. With this money, keşkül dessert was made and distributed to the poor.
