A Vestalin or Vestal virgin was a Roman priestess of the goddess Vesta.
The college of Vestalins consisted of six priestesses. Their main assignment was the maintenance of the fire in the temple of Vesta.
The House of the Vestal Virgins was the residential building of the Vestal Virgins in Ancient Rome. The house was located at the Roman Forum, right next to the Temple of Vesta. Around the atrium are now excavated statues of Vestal Virgins.
Santini has made a copy of one of these statues.
The sculpture is 27 cm high.
