The Marantz PM 5003 delivers 2X 40 watts (RMS) at 8 ohms (55 watts at 4 ohms). It has six inputs, two line outputs and something that is a rarity nowadays: an internal (MM) phono stage. We can find eight speaker connections on the back (speaker A & B). The tone control and balance control work nicely, but most functions can be bypassed via the Source Direct function. The PM 5003 has inherited the patented ‘Current Feedback’ circuit of the more expensive Marantz amplifier models and is fortunately equipped with the (ungrounded) IEC mains connection so a better or longer power cord can easily be connected. The amplifier was fully checked and is technically 100%. The amplifier unfortunately has a scratch on the right side of the front panel. This is only visible up close, but I want to make it clear and I have made it visible on the photo. The remote control has two light dents, visible in the photo. That all cannot disguise the fact that the amplifier works completely great other than that and sounds great!
