Beautiful antique cast iron coal kit, made in France around 1870, by the brothers and master smiths Alfred and Emile Corneau, in their forge in Charleville-Mézières.
The lid is richly decorated with figures: flowers, leaves, stems and streamers, and an image of a mythological male head with mustache and horns.
Under the image the inscription “Corneau Freres, A Charleville Ardennes”.
The lid has a porcelain knob with light damage.
The 22 kg heavy coal kit is further in good condition, except for light signs of old age.
The coal kit will be carefully packaged and shipped registered.
