Goebel after designs of the nun Maria Innocentia Hummel. Innocentia was part of the Franciscan order; she took endearing children's photos, which were displayed in porcelain by Goebel. These so-called 'Hummel figurines' were - and still are - popular with collectors. This particular figurine shows the Virgin Mother with her child. Her son is lying on her lap and there is also a book on her lap. Her son carelessly rests his foot on it - they don't care; they observe a flower. A bird sits on the edge of the book and keeps them company. The figurine is in good condition with slight signs of age and use.
