M. J. Hummel - Goebel - Large White Madonna with Child 10/1 Tmk2 - Abstract - Earthenware

Beautiful, creamy white Mary with child, the so-called ‘Flower Madonna’, Hummel by Goebel The porcelain representation of a 'Madonna with child' was made by the factory F. & W. Goebel after designs of the nun Maria Innocentia Hummel. Innocentia was part of the Franciscan order; she took endearing children's photos, which were displayed in porcelain by Goebel. These so-called 'Hummel figurines' were - and still are - popular with collectors. This particular figurine shows the Virgin Mother with her child. Her son is lying on her lap and there is also a book on her lap. Her son carelessly rests his foot on it - they don't care; they observe a flower. A bird sits on the edge of the book and keeps them company. The figurine is in good condition with slight signs of age and use. (restoration to the hand, but this is hardly visible) Signed at the back: M. J. Hummel Signed at the bottom: 10/1, Germany, 35 and the so-called ‘Full bee’. Glazed porcelain. Germany, after 1950 The porcelain manufacturer F. & W. Goebel is a company in Coburg. It was founded in 1871 by Franz Detleff and his son William Goebel and remained in the family until its closure in 2006. Selected classics are released in a whole new way in white. Without decoration, the figurines with their fine design have a very special charm. The Hummel figures of the "White Edition" not only enrich each collection, but also as an individual piece they are very decorative. This Mary Hummel will be carefully packaged, Dimensions: Height 24 cm - Weight 550 grams. Width 16.5 cm - Depth 12 cm. The photos are part of the description.
