Four chairs, model "Superleggera", produced by Cassina on an original design by Italian artist Gio Ponti. Year: 1957. Chair with an iconic design, made with high-quality natural materials: black lacquered ash wood for the frame, and rattan for the seat. An historic item, this is a keeper. In other words, this is a collector's item. Not bad, considering that Gio Ponti described this chair as normal, lightweight, thin and practical: characteristics found in everyday objects. Its original stylistic value makes it a timeless symbol of excellence in the history of Italian design. One piece of trivia: It took eight years to come up with the final prototype. The name ("Superleggera" = Ultralight) was not chosen randomly: each chair barely weighs 1.7 kg, and can be lifted with one finger.
