Wall clock, Zaans model – Franz Hermle (FHS) – Germany – 1960s

Wall clock in walnut case after the Zaans model by the famous German manufacturer Hermle. Strap: FHS. This stands for Franz Hermle & Sons. Numbered: 71, 281-000. Through a window in the side the movement mechanism can be observed. Fine piece with old-fashioned bronze gong sound. With beautiful bronze ornaments, copper weights and richly decorated bronze hands and bronze pendulum. The front ornament bears the inspiring text "Nu elck Syn sin". On the top vault stands the bronze figure Atlas, who carries the heaven firmament on his shoulders, according to the Greek legend. The winding mechanism operates through the copper weights on the copper chains. The case gives entrance to the copper movement on the back through a simple wooden panel, fastened with a wooden wedge. Measurements: 52 (height) x 21 (width) x 14 cm (depth). Condition: good, with minor signs of age/wear. The clock runs well, was taken from the wall in working condition. All bronze ornaments and the copper weights and chains are in very beautiful and pristine condition. The walnut case has a beautiful wood nerve, patina and minor signs of age/wear. The blue globe, attached via a copper pin, has a few small damaged spots, which however can be placed out of sight by rotating it accordingly. Placement advice: suspension on a sturdy wall hook due to its weight; has to be done spirit level because otherwise the clock won't run. Precision-set button below the pendulum. Will be carefully packaged and shipped registered with insurance.
