Jan Hendrik Jacob Jasper (1937) - Zeegezicht met Scheveningse bomschuit op het strand

A beautiful painting by Jan Jasper with a Old-Dutch scene of a seascape with a ship on the beach, in imitation of the Hague school. In the centre of the middle is a sailing ship with half lowered sails on the beach of Scheveningen. On the brown sail is the abbreviation 'SCH4'. In the boat, a sailor is working at the helm. On the right side of the deck is another sailor (skipper) talking with four men who are on the beach. To the right of the rudder are two fisherwomen busy talking to each other. A little further on the left side of the boat are another two men talking to each other. In the sand are the traces of the characteristic low keel of the flat-bottomed fishing boats. (Because of this low keel, the flat-bottomed fishing boats could be pulled more easily on the beach or in the sea with horses.) On the low horizon are two fishing vessels sailing at sea. The painting is framed with a beautiful ornamental frame. The frame has a base colour of subdued gold (copper plating), with a red and blue underground that sporadically shines through in the ornaments and the exterior edge of the frame. In addition, the frame has a dark blue band on the inside. The inner ring of the frame is white, mixed with dark pixels. This white mixed inner ring is broken with a red-blue colour. Dimensions: 30 x 24 cm excluding the frame. With the frame it measures 41 x 35 cm. Kind of frame: traditional ornamental frame of the Dutch top brand GJB. Condition: the painting is in a good condition. The painting is not damaged or restored and has no craquelure. The painting has no surface dirt. The frame is in a good condition and barely has visible signs of wear. The art painter Jan Jasper is born on May 11, 1937 in the Hague. His full name is Jan Hendrik Jacob Jasper. At 17 years old he started sailing. Jan was educated at The National Art School in Sydney (Australia) from 1956 and 1957. Also, Jan was a student of the painter F.T.H. van Gaalen (1904-1990) from 1958 till 1960 and from the painter A.N.M. Karssen (1945). Jan lived and worked in the Hague. Here, he had a studio and a gallery at the Laan van Meerdervoort 249. Then, in 1992, he temporarily moved to Turnhout and Hoogstraten in Belgium, to return to The Hague later. He made paintings of mostly old Dutch Beach faces and seascapes of Scheveningen, in the style of the Hague school. In addition, he painted cityscapes, landscapes, animals and the port of Rotterdam. He also restored the impressive painting 'Panorama van Hoogstraten' (1564 AD) in 1992, which hangs in the council chamber. In the signature of his name, the first letter 'J' always disappears into the second letter 'H'. As a result, it seems to say H.J. Jasper. Jan also painted under the pseudonyms: Zielstra (ca. 1960-1965), Douwes (ca. 1970-1982), Mooyman, (ca. 1984-1986) HendrikVader (ca. 1992-1997) Seeman and Hofma (period unknown). Shipping method: the painting will be well packed (farme will be protected with foam u-profiles) and sent by registered mail.
