The Series 52 also known as HLD 52 or Type 202, is a locomotive built in the image of the American made FP9 locomotive. The locomotives were built under license by the Belgian company Anglo-Franco-Belge (AFB) and the Swedish Nydquist Och Holm AB (NOHAB). The diesel engines of these locomotives were built by General Motors (GM) and were imported from America. A total of 205 pieces of this type of locomotive were built. AFB delivered 40 units off the Types 202, 203 and 204, to the Belgian NMBS, and 4 units delivered to the Luxembourg CFL as the Series 1600. NOHAB delivered 104 units as the Series MY 1100 to the Danish DSB, 37 units to the Norwegian NSB as their Series Di3 and 20 units to the Hungarian MAV. The locomotives of the series 52, 53, 54 and the Series 1600 are also known under the name "Bulbous nose" because of the originally large front.
