Set of two dishes by Royal VKB. The design is inspired on a falling drop of water. The (fruit) dish was designed by the renowned Dutch designer Gijs Bakker. Design year: 2000. The dish is made of 18/10 stainless steel, wonderful stainless quality. Marked: Kelgum 18-10. In a good condition. With light user scratches. Small dish: Height: 17.3 cm. Diameter: 21 cm. Large dish: Height: 20.3 cm. Diameter: 32 cm. The dishes are not suited for dishwasher cleaning. Gijs Bakker (Amersfoort, 1942) was trained as a jewellery and industrial designer at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Konstfackskolan in Stockholm, Sweden. He designs jewellery, home accessories and household appliances, furniture, interiors, public spaces and exhibitions. He has worked and still works for numerous companies, among which Polaroid, Artifort, HEMA, Royal VKB and ENO Studio. In 1993 he founded Droog Design together with design critic and historian Renny Ramakers, a Dutch collective of designers, products and information. Together with Ramakers, Bakker was the selector and the art director of all products within Droog Design until 2009. Baker taught at various schools, including the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem, Delft University of Technology and the Design Academy Eindhoven, where he worked from 1987 until 2012, and from 2000 onwards as head of the Masters Programme. His work is represented in collections worldwide, both in museum and private collections.
