Two Thonet style dining room chairs ‘model no. 214’ FMG, Polen, early 20th century, Fabryka Mebli Giętych
2 chairs with hand-braided webbing seats after an original design by Michael Thonet, model number 214, dating from 1862. Curved wood with a hand-braided chair reed seat.
The chairs from this lot are made at FMG in Poland, no later than the 1950s.
FMG stands for: Fabryka Mebli Giętych No 1 , formed after a fusion of Thonet Mundus and Fabryka Mebli Giętych No 2 .
In ca. 1955 FMG further merged into Fameg.
Marked: Yes, 1 chair on the inside bottom seat. FMG with a 6 digit number 863528, see picture. The chairs come from the same lot.
Condition: good, the hand-knotted seats are original and in good condition.
In 1 chair a leg was restored on the inside with new screw.
Normal signs of wear.
Dimensions:
Height of the backrest: 87 cm.
Seat height: 45 cm.
Diameter seat 41 cm
