In July 1930 Darré joined the NSDAP (248,256) and the Schutzstaffel (6,882) and, with the increase in propaganda in the field of agriculture, became one of the main figures of the party in the next elections. From 1931 Darré was the head of the newly founded Rasse- und Siedlungshauptamt (RuSHA). In 1932 he founded the monthly magazine Deutsche Agrarpolitik (from 1939 Odal). Darré was mainly concerned with the old and current Nordic farmers (the ideology of Blut und Boden). After the takeover of the NSDAP, Darré became head of the Reichsnährstand he founded in 1933.
