Antique display plate by Alba Docilia, the most important furnace in Albisola. A gorgeous plate in shades of blue, typical of Albisola pottery. In 1919, Adolfo Rossello from Albisola returned to his hometown and, in partnership with a group of sponsors, among which Eng. Guglielmo Camogli, Congressman Michelino Poggi, attorney Costantino Barile and Andrea Seitun, opened an art ceramic factory named “Alba Docilia” after Albisola ancient Roman name. In 1922, the “Alba Docilia”, at that time directed by Roman painter Mario Gambetta, won a medal at the Diano Marina exhibition and since 1923 regularly participated in the Fiera Campionaria of Milan. In 1923 the factory was converted into a cooperative and the following year, Adolfo Rossello and his kids Angela Teresa, Vittorina, Francesco Adolfo and Pietro, became the sole owners. In 1925, the factory participated in the 2nd Biennale of Monza. In 1928 the company was at the Mostra Artigianale in Savona and participated in the Crafts exhibition of the Settimana Albisolese of 1933 and 1934. In 1934 their production was also presented at the exhibitions in Tripoli, Leipzig and Vienna. In 1938 they were at the Mostra delle Ceramiche Liguri in Rome and at the Crafts Fair in Florence, where they participated also in 1956 and 1958. Many ceramists collaborated with the company between the two world wars, including:Virio da Savona, Guglielmo Bozzano, Romeo Bevilacqua, Cerruti, Carlo Frumento, Benedetto Gaggero, Ida Milani, Hamlet Modolo and Ivos Pacetti.
