A very fine unglazed porcelain figure of a nude woman in a dancing movement, sculpted to anatomical perfection. Marked to the underside with C. Werner, impressed in the clay, and manufacturer's mark for Hutschenreuther, a mark used from 1955-1968. Carl Werner (1895-1980), after finishing his studies in Weimar he joined Hutschenreuther in 1922 and worked there until 1960 as a sculptor and technical director of the art department. He had universal artistic interests and contributed a lot to recognition of Hutschenreuther's porcelain figurines around the world. He produced incomparable studies in movement and expression of the human body and is considered one of the most important German figurative sculptors of the 20th century.
