Prehistoria, Epoka brązu Brązowy - Miecz Bragby'ego - 52×96×600 mm - (1)

Important sword of the Nordic Bronze Age of the type Hajdusamson - Apa. The sword was found in 1912 near Bragby, Uppland in Sweden by a local farmer. A cast of this sword is on display in the State Archaeological Museum in Stockholm. This original Bragby sword here was acquired by a Swedish collector as part of a sale of individual items from the museum's archives in the 1940s and has since been in several old Swedish collections. In the end since approx. 1985 in a private collection of B.E. / Sweden, purchased from this collection in the late 1980s by German collector R.B. through a Swedish auction house, until now after the piece has been sold by R.B. to me in my current collection, which is in the resolution of individual parts and i.a. being offered here. The sword shows signs of battle, is heavily patinated but overall in very good condition. Small old break of the blade tip about 1 cm. Blade with groove decoration, these in pairs of 5 individual grooves. Groove embellishment still well preserved and finely chased, but partly under the patina / malachite layer. Handle without decoration with large, slightly oval knob plate. This ending with a conical rivet flattened at the end. Handle with a total of 5 rivets including 3 false rivets, the outer rivets on the outside are real rivets. The sword was scientifically examined in the 1910s and 1920s and again and again until the 1940s. The sword is described in detail and mentioned in specialist literature. A sword of the same type was found in Bassen / Lower Saxony / Northern Germany and is mentioned in the literature together with the sword from Bragby cf. in addition - F. LAUX "- The swords in Lower Saxony -". The sword of Bragby can be found here. Mentioned in FORSSANDER "- The East Scandinavian North -" from 1936 and is described there.
