Victor de Buck (1855-1944) - Herfstlandschap
Victor Maria Charles Joseph de Buck (Bruges, 14th August, 1855 - Sint-Niklaas, 24th August, 1916) was a Belgian painter who focused on rural life. On his way from Antwerp to Eindhoven he discovered the then picturesque town of Bladel and he advised his friend Joseph Gindra to paint there and in the vicinity of the Brabant Kempen.
With a refined brush Victor de Buck painted, among other things, Kempen landscapes, townscapes and churches. During his brabant period he also met contemporary Vincent van Gogh, who was staying in Nuenen at the time.
Later, De Buck went back to photograph a number of country scenes. Gindra and his family settled in Bladel in 1887, in the Gindrahuis.
