Picault was a very prolific artist who produced sculptures in abundance during his long sculpture career - more than 500 models in total. He began to show his works of art at the Salon from 1863. He signed most of his work with "E. Picault".
His work consists mainly of allegorical or patriotic subjects, war figures or mythological heroes, often with Latin or French titles.
